Participation in the “Botanical Art Competition 2026” (the “Competition”) is subject to the following Terms and Conditions:
- The term 'Entry' refers to a piece of work submitted for participation in a competition.
- The competition has no national restrictions, but certain divisions have age and residency requirements.
- Participants in the Youth and Junior Divisions must select the appropriate group based on the specified age criteria. Specifically, individuals born between 3 March 2008 and 2 March 2014 are eligible to participate in the Youth Division; those born between 3 March 2014 and 2 March 2017 are eligible to participate in the Junior Division.
- Participants under the age of 18 on the last day of the competition period (i.e. 2 March 2026) must obtain consent from a parent or guardian to participate in the competition and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
- All Residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("Hong Kong residents") are welcome to join the Local Open Division, regardless of age.
- All non-Hong Kong residents are welcome to join the International Open Division, regardless of age.
- The definition of Hong Kong residents refers to the ‘Basic Law’ Chapter III - Fundamental Rights and Duties of the Residents
- The competition has no registration fee.
- Each entry must be completed by a single author. Collaborative work will not be accepted.
- Each entry must comply with the required submission format.
- Entries must be completed within the two-year period prior to the end of the submission period (i.e. between 2 March 2024 and 2 March 2026), and must not have been previously published or awarded. This includes printed publications, public exhibitions, and awards from other competitions, etc. However, publication on personal social media is not subject to this restriction.
- Each entry must be an original creation that does not infringe upon the rights (including intellectual property rights, confidentiality, or privacy rights) of any third party. Breach of this rule will result in disqualification. If an entry violates any laws, the participant shall bear full legal responsibility. Shiu-Ying Hu Herbarium (“Herbarium”) shall not be held liable.
- The competition results will be announced on the competition website on 23 May 2026. Awardees will be notified in advance via email regarding the award ceremony and prize collection by 23 March 2026. Other participants will not receive further notification.
- After the competition results are announced, the Herbarium will remit or transfer the prize money to the bank account designated by the awardee. The prize disbursement process may take more than 3 to 6 months. For awardees under the age of 18, the prize money will be collected by a parent or guardian.
- Overseas awardees can receive the cash prizes in their country currencies. Due to exchange rates and bank fees, the final amount may be less than the advertised prize.
- Awardees must provide proof of identity to verify their eligibility to receive the prize. If awardees cannot be contacted within 14 days of the results announcement, it will be deemed that they have forfeited their claim to the award and prize.
- Entries submitted to the incorrect competition division will be disqualified.
- Herbarium will display entries and participants’ names on its website, social media, future competition posters, and other promotional materials related to the competition. Entries will not be reproduced elsewhere without the authors’ permission.
- Herbarium and the panel of judges reserve the right to make final decisions regarding the competition and related matters.
- Personal data provided will be used solely for judging, communication, and administration of the competition. Herbarium will not transfer or use personal data for other purposes.
- In case of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions of these terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.
