Supplementary information

Native to tropical America, widely naturalized in Hong Kong. Herb with a woody base or small shrub. Spike rachis erect; bracts with scarious margin above middle, entire and obscurely ciliate or sometime with tooth; corolla tube with sparse short glandular hair abaxially, with long glandular hair adaxially and white sericeous at throat; corolla lobes with sparse short glandular hair abaxially,  glabrous adaxially. Stamens and style included in the corolla tube.
