Shrub to tree. Flower axillary or subterminal, solitary, subsessile; bract and sepals 12, persistent in fruit, crustaceous, leathery; petal 8-10, basal 1.5 cm united; stamens many, outer whorl stamens basal 5 -6mm united, Capsule subglobose surrounded by persistent sepals, dehiscing into 5 valves.
