Supplementary information

Panicle pubescent. Flower with 1 fertile stamen and 4 staminodes. Petals light yellow or white, later turning to purple, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 2 times as long as calyx-lobes, glabrous, recurved at anthesis. Drupe ellipsoidal to nearly kidney-shape, color green, yellow to red; with yellow, fleshy, edible mesocarp. Flowering in spring, fruiting in summer. The fruits of the species can be used for winemaking and also preserved in vinegar. Fruit skin can be applied as folk medicine to induce urination and relieve vomiting; nuclei of the fruit can dispel wind and relieve vomiting. Bark and leaves can used as dye for yellow color. The wood of it is hard and sea-water-proof, can be used for the production of furniture or boats.
